The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation announced the results of the 9th Corporate Governance Evaluation on April 27, 2023. Apex ranked in 6% to 20% for the eight consecutive years among listed companies. Besides, in the electronics category with a market capitalization of over NTD 10 billion, Apex has moved up to the 11% to 20% range for the first time, which means our continuous efforts to improve our corporate governance mechanisms have yielded some results.
Apex is committed to improving internal governance mechanisms in line with international standards. In the 9th evaluation, we performed well in the four major areas of "safeguarding shareholder rights and treating shareholders equally," "strengthening the structure and operation of the board of directors," "enhancing information transparency," and "promoting sustainable development." In terms of information transparency, Apex announced the Annual Report ahead of the legal requirements and announces financial reports within two months after the end of the accounting year. We also release all of the material information in both Chinese and English simultaneously, ensuring that investors have the right to access information promptly. In terms of strengthening the structure and operation of the Board of Directors, Apex achieved the gender diversity goal for the Board of Directors last year by adding a female director and expanding an independent director position, thereby increasing the diversity and independence of the Board.
Last year, Apex also established the Sustainable Development Committee to strengthen the direction and layout of our sustainable operations. Since 2016, we have voluntarily prepared the annual ESG report in both Chinese and English, providing non-financial information such as social investment and environmental statistics, allowing investors to clearly understand Apex's sustainable development performance. Our official website also has an investor section and an ESG section, making it easy for stakeholders to check the latest news about Apex and the content of our previous ESG reports.
In terms of corporate sustainability, Apex is actively building green energy and wastewater recycling systems. Last year, we launched the "Apex GREEN Project" which will bring benefits in carbon reduction and wastewater recycling. Parts of the solar energy system have already completed and are expected to reduce carbon emissions by over 2,100 tons annually from this year. Apex is also actively involved in social welfare. In addition to annually donating funds to hospitals, local communities, and schools, we also lead employees to participate in charity runs and public welfare activities such as setting up solar panels and improving water supply systems for residents in remote areas of northern Thailand.
Apex knows that good corporate governance is a crucial cornerstone for sustainable development. In the future, we will continue to strengthen our corporate governance mechanisms, deepen our sustainable development strategies, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to create a better future.
