Today (14th), Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy and CTCI Education Foundation held the SDGs Academic Paper Award and Excellence in Teaching Sustainability Award Forum at the Grand Hotel. Among more than 200 papers, Apex Corporate Governance Team Member Po-Hsuan, Wu won the Excellence Award for the paper titled Demystifying the interconnections among natural resources, fin-tech, green technologies, and sustainable environment in E-7 nations. The achievement highlights her in-depth insights and research contributions to sustainability issues.

The SDGs Academic Paper Award focuses on the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its selection theme. Divided into three major dimensions: "Environment," "Economy," and "Society," the award aims to encourage contributions from industry, government, academia, research institutions, and NGOs to sustainable academic research, knowledge application, and social responsibility efforts. The goal is to accelerate the dissemination of sustainable knowledge, establish sustainability benchmarks, promote high-quality research, and enhance the effectiveness of sustainable transformation.

The winning paper focuses on global carbon reduction, analyzing the impact of natural resources and agricultural activities on carbon emissions when promoting economic development. The research also highlights the potential of fin-tech and green technology in reducing carbon emissions, provides several strategies, and recommends emerging countries adopt renewable energy and green technologies to achieve sustainable manufacturing goals.

Since the end of 2021, Apex launched the GREEN Project, focusing on increasing the renewable energy substitution rate and enhancing water resource management to create a more sustainable manufacturing environment. As of September 2024, Apex's self-built solar power systems have reached an installed capacity of 8.3 MW, with an estimated annual carbon reduction exceeding 6,000 tons. Additionally, the average monthly wastewater recovery rate has reached 25%.

In the future, Apex will continue to encourage employees to engage in sustainability research, integrate practical applications, and advance green manufacturing processes in factories, creating a sustainable future with our stakeholders.
