As global warming intensifies, the importance of environmental sustainability and carbon reduction for corporate sustainability is increasing. To strengthen our carbon reduction strategy, Apex recently obtained the greenhouse gas inventory verification by SGS (Thailand) Ltd according to the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard. A certification ceremony was held today (18th), and CEO Chou Jui-Hsiang received the certificate from the Director of BSI. This certification demonstrates that our carbon inventory system meets international standards and is recognized by authoritative organizations.
ISO 14064-1:2018 is a global standard issued by the ISO organization in 2018. It aims to ensure the reliability of greenhouse gas emission data through the principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, accuracy, and transparency. This helps organizations assess their current carbon emissions, identify management gaps, and develop effective carbon reduction strategies.
Since 2016, Apex has voluntarily prepared and released annual ESG Reports and audited greenhouse gas inventory. At the end of 2021, Apex launched the "GREEN Project," aiming to increase the substitution rate of renewable energy and strengthen water resource management to meet future factory water and electricity needs. At the same time, Apex conducted ISO 14064-1:2018 training to enhance internal carbon inventory capabilities and build up a solid foundation for our carbon reduction plan. As of 2023, the Apex solar power system has an installed capacity of 5.1 MW, reducing carbon emissions by over 3,700 tons annually. With the results of various energy-saving projects, the annual carbon reduction is expected to reach nearly 9,000 tons from 2025.
Implementing greenhouse gas inventories is an indispensable part of corporate sustainability and a key indicator of risk management and corporate governance. Apex voluntarily conducts the ISO 14064-1:2018 greenhouse gas inventory certification fully demonstrates our commitment to environmental sustainability. In the future, we will optimize carbon reduction measures and energy management based on the inventory results. We also plan to introduce ISO 14064-2 carbon reduction project certification and ISO 50001 energy management to achieve corporate sustainability through systematic and comprehensive planning.
